Report: Burfict fined $75,000 for Blount incident

According to ProFootball Talk’s Zac Jackson, Cincinnati Bengals Vontaze Burfict has been fined $75,000 for stepping on Patriots running back LaGarrette Blount late in Sunday’s 35-17 loss at New England.

According to Jackson, the letter the league sent Burfict informing him of the fine made it clear it was solely for his action against Blount and not the low hit to the back of the leg of New England tight end Martellus Bennett.

Earlier report, 10:17 a.m.

Will Vontaze Burfict be in uniform Sunday when the Bengals play the Browns?

Signs point to yes.

ESPN reported Wednesday morning the Bengals “are not expecting” Burfict to be suspended after a pair of videos showing questionable behavior during Cincinnati’s loss to New England surfaced.

ProFootballTalk.com noted suspensions are typically handed down on Monday or Tuesday afternoon at the latest, so the veteran linebacker would appear to be in the clear.

Burfict was suspended for the first three games of the season for an accumulation of unsafe and/or unsavory actions on the field, but the Bengals have appeared to stand by him throughout.

Jim Mora on UCLA’s sieve-like defense: ‘It rips my guts out’

We’re not trying to harp on it, but Jim Mora keeps talking about it, and for good reason. After a frustrating loss to Arizona, UCLA has perhaps as little momentum as any 3-3 team in college football history. Most of that blame belongs to the Bruins’ defense. The Bruins are 129th in the nation against the run. Even their high-powered...

Iowa State hasn’t hosted Power 5 team other than Iowa since 1989

The Iowa State Cyclones haven’t had the best out-of-conference scheduling in recent years. And by recent years, we mean since 1989. That’s the last time they’ve hosted a Power 5 team outside of the rival Iowa Hawkeyes. Reddit user r/NewVolunteer figured this out in a post Wednesday evening. Iowa State hasn’t been...
