Another day, another insane Joey Votto stat.

Votto reached base twice in the Reds’ 15-5 loss to Chicago on Monday – including beating a four-outfield shift for a double.

Now, Votto is chasing history.

More impressive than the recent 17-game hitting streak, Votto has been on base at least twice in 19 consecutive games. It’s the longest such streak since Barry Bonds in 2004.

Votto is two games shy of Ted Williams’ record set in 1948.

Votto has made it a Reds’ season worth watching despite a 49-70 record. He’s continuing ascending team rankings and writing his name in baseball record books.

On Aug. 10, Votto passed Ted Kluszewski for eighth all-time on the Reds home run list. A few days earlier, he passed former teammate Jay Bruce for most homers in Great American Ball Park history.
