Recruiting roundup: Dunbar pair narrows choices; Wayne WR waiting?

Since our last area recruiting roundup, two of the top player have both narrowed their lists.

Dunbar teammates Tavion Thomas and Joseph Scates recently released a top seven and six, respectively, and the groups have a lot in common.

Thomas and Scates both have Cincinnati, Oklahoma, Louisville, West Virginia and Alabama on their lists of finalists.

Thomas, a four-star running back, is also still considering Wisconsin and USC.

Scates, a four-star receiver, does not have the Badgers or Trojans on his list, but he is still looking at Rutgers…

L’Christian “Blue” Smith of Wayne is another four-star receiver with an enviable offer list, but could he be close to deciding?

Last month he visited Ohio State and told Land of 10 recruiting analyst Jeremy Birmingham the Buckeyes were tops on his list.

After soliciting some help on Twitter for a commitment video, Smith tweeted today he is delaying his commitment without offering any further details….

Speaking of visits, the No. 1 recruit in the state – Fairfield offensive tackle Jackson Carman – tweeted he has set one this summer for USC.

A who’s-who of college football titans have offered the five-star prospect, but Ohio State and Clemson have generally been considered his leaders.

Regardless, there’s no harm in using all of those official visits the NCAA allows, is there?...

Meanwhile, Franklin running back Ryan Montgomery recently visited Cincinnati.

He also picked up offers from Rutgers and Northwestern…

Lastly we have an update on a pair of Alter Knights set to enter their junior seasons this fall.

Running back John Bivens and quarterback Connor Bazelak have officially joined the large list of area recruited athletes after making a trip to Pittsburgh last weekend.

That’s a brief roundup for today, but you can expect things to pick up as summer camps get underway. See anything we missed? Got a tip or correction? Hit me up at marcus.hartman@coxinc.com.
