Things to watch at Bengals training camp practice No. 5 today

The Cincinnati Bengals resume training camp today on the heels of their biggest crowd on the practice fields since moving camp to downtown Cincinnati. Here are some things to watch in the fifth practice:

Turn up the heat: The weather has been beautiful for the first four practices, much to the chagrin of head coach Marvin Lewis, who would like to see the players have to deal with some heat and humidity to get better conditioned. With nice weather forecast again today, and an off day scheduled tomorrow, will Lewis ratchet up the activity?

Injury update: Wide receiver Marvin Jones left practice early yesterday but appeared to be OK, while defensive tackle Brandon Thompson had a pronounced limp a few hours afterward. This is also the first practice A.J. Green was said to have a chance to return to, but it's doubtful that will happen even if he's 100 percent ready.

Safety scrum: All three safeties thought to be in the running for the starting job opposite Reggie Nelson have been seeing equal time, but that could soon be changing with the team getting in contact drills and full pads.
