Pair of area football recruits still in national top 50

A pair of area high school football prospects dropped in the most recent 2018 rankings from Rivals.com.

Five-star Fairfield offensive lineman Jackson Carman was the nation’s No. 4 prospect. He is No. 13 now.

Wayne receiver L’Christian “Blue” Smith was No. 29 and dropped to 31. He is a four-star prospect.

Six Ohio State verbal commitments are in the updated Rivals Top 100: quarterback Emory Jones (No. 17), defensive tackle Taron Vincent (18), running back Brian Snead (28), defensive end Brenton Cox (32), running back Jaelen Gill (49) and defensive back Jaiden Woodbey (51).

More updates to the rankings – including several other area prospects – are due out Wednesday.
