Northwestern girls cruise behind Cruz


Crystal Cruz scored four goals to lead Northwestern to a 6-0 win over Kenton Ridge in a Division II girls high school soccer sectional final Monday.

Cruz scored the last four goals of the game for the Warriors, who advanced to play Tippecanoe on Thursday in the district final at Wayne.

Jensen Kleis had a goal and two assists. Rebecca Wells had her seventh shutout.

Shawnee 2, Greenon 1: Kaitlyn Gregory scored twice for Shawnee off headers, the last goal coming with 17:50 left in the second half to break the tie with Greenon in this D-II sectional final. The Braves will play Alter in the district final Thursday.
