Black and Hartman’s big bats lead Mechanicsburg


Baseball

Mechanicsburg 12, Southeastern 8: Jake Wetzel struck out two and got his first win for Mechanicsburg (2-0). Austin Black was 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and three RBIs. Logan Hartman was 2-for-3 with a home run and five RBIs.

Catholic Central 8, Cedarville 5: Mark Ellis of Catholic Central struck out five and got the save while going 2-for-4 from the plate with four RBIs. Dimitrious Dimitroff improved to 2-0 and struck out seven in five innings.

Triad 12, West Liberty-Salem 1: Triad’s Doug Lowe improved to 2-0 and struck out 15. At the plate he was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Tre Macintyre had a triple and two RBIs. Colton Young was 3-for-4.

Shawnee 10, Greenon 0: Derek Zinkhon got his first win for Shawnee. Joey Chapman was 3-for-4 while Evan Lyons was 3-for-5.

Xenia 4, Springfield 3: Jeff Mefford was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs for Springfield.

Softball

Springfield 12, Xenia 1: Shelby Evans went 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs and Marah Jeffrey had a double with three RBIs for Springfield (2-1).

Northwestern 5, Tecumseh 1: Jensen Kleis plated three runs and Megan Oty (1-1) picked up the win to lead Northwestern (1-2).

Kenton Ridge 11, Indian Lake 1: Pitcher Courtney Lopez improved to 3-0 and Monica Foster went 2-for-4 with four RBIs for ‘Ridge (3-0).

Spg. Shawnee 10, Greenon 0: Karlee Sine had a three-run homer and Emily McKillip struck out 14 in the shutout for Spg. Shawnee.

Southeastern 12, Mechanicsburg 2: Starter Becca Carpenter (2-0) struck out six and went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs to lead Southeastern (2-0).
