Seven weeks down and three to go in the high school football regular season, and it’s not hard to find five games to keep an eye on around the Miami Valley.

Here are five games to watch in Week 8:

Troy (5-2) at Sidney (7-0)

The Yellow Jackets have dodged some bullets on the way to that perfect record, including last week's homecoming shootout win over Tipp .

No defense has had an answer for Isaiah Bowser. The Northwestern-bound senior has rushed for 1,900 yards and 24 touchdowns through seven games.

Troy has won four in a row, and a win over Sidney would be a huge playoff boost for a team currently on the wrong side in the D-II, Region 8 computer poll.

It is the Touchdown 7 Arby's Game of the Week .

Wayne (5-2) at Fairmont (6-1)

It’s must-win time for the Warriors the rest of the way. Wayne has Springfield and Trotwood in the final two weeks, but Jay Minton’s team can’t afford to look past the Firebirds.

If you like to compare similar opponents, Wayne beat Beavercreek 42-14 last Friday while Fairmont lost to the Beavers 14-3. Both of those games were at Beavercreek.

Centerville (7-0) at Northmont (5-2)

The T-Bolts are the team that nobody wants to play these days. The guys in green are coming off a win at Springfield last week. Tony Broering’s team can light up a scoreboard.

The Elks are pretty good at that too. Centerville is averaging 33 points a game and has scored road wins at Wayne and at Springfield.

Bellefontaine (6-1) at Springfield Shawnee (4-3)

The Chiefs have reeled off five wins in a row since they fell to Sidney in Week 2. Desmin Lyburtus has thrown for 12 touchdowns and rushed for nine more.

Shawnee is ninth in the latest computer rankings in Division IV, Region 16, but a win at home this week would turn the Braves into serious playoff contenders.

Oakwood (4-3) at Valley View (7-0)

This game was a 42-41 shootout last season, and both sides still have explosive offenses. The problem for the Lumberjacks is they are not very good defensively, and the Spartans will be this time around.
