Los Angeles Rams linebacker Alec Ogletree just became a very, very rich man.

On Thursday night, the 26-year-old inside linebacker signed a four-year, $42 million contract extensions with the Rams. The 2106 second-team All-Pro is now the second-highest paid inside linebacker in the National Football League, trailing only Carolina Panthers superstar Luke Kuechly.

Alec has evolved into a true leader of our football team and we are excited to sign him to this extension,” Rams general manager Les Snead said (via ESPN). “His teammates voted him as a captain in back-to-back season for a reason – and it’s not only because of his production, but his character and resiliency. We look forward to Alec helping our team emerge as a consistent winner for years to come.”

Ogletree’s deal includes over $30 million in guarantees and will pay the former Georgia Bulldog $33 million over the first three years.

Ogletree was a first-round pick (No. 30 overall) by the Rams in 2013. He earned All-Rookie honors in 2013, and All-Pro honors in 2016.

Getting a deal done for Ogletree now allows the Los Angeles front office to turn their full attention towards getting a long-term extension done for All-Pro defensive tackle Aaron Donald.
