Series history: Davidson leads 5-2. Dayton lost 73-67 to Davidson in the quarterfinals of the Atlantic 10 tournament last season in Pittsburgh. Dayton beat the Wildcats 89-82 in overtime at Davidson in the regular season last February. Dayton won the last meeting at UD Arena 80-74 in 2016.

Coaches: Anthony Grant is 9-10 as Dayton head coach. His career record in 10 seasons is 202-120. Bob McKillop is 543-335 in his 29th season at Davidson.

They were 17-10 overall last season and were picked to finish sixth in the preseason poll. … In non-conference play, Davidson didn’t beat anyone ranked in the top 240 of the Pomeroy ratings. Its worst loss was to No. 231 Appalachian State. … Davidson has five foreign-born players on the roster: Dustin Kovacevic (Serbia); Nathan Ekwu (Nigeria), who’s out for the season with a knee injury; Gudmundsson (Iceland); Michelsen (Finland); and Will Magarity (Sweden).
