Covington to add 3 in athletic hall of fame during Week 2 game

Covington High School will honor its 35th athletic hall of fame class during a Week 2 football game against visiting Minster.

An induction ceremony will take place on Friday, Sept. 1, at halftime at Smith Field. Covington will host Minster in a non-league game the starts at 7:30 p.m.

New inductees will be Meredith Tobias and Gene Studebaker, both of the Class of 2007, and honorary inductee coach Jack Schwamberger.

Covington bumps up to Division VI, Region 24 this season and opens the season at St. Henry on Friday, Aug. 25. Last season Covington was 10-0 and won a Cross County Conference title in Tyler Cates’ first year as head coach. The Buccs were 11-1, falling to Fort Recovery in a D-IV, Region 28 semifinal.
