ESPN: Baker Mayfield, Sam Bradford could land with Arizona Cardinals

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer announced his retirement from football on Tuesday, which could bode well for a pair of Oklahoma quarterbacks in search of a job.

2017 Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield will be in search of a franchise in late April as he makes the jump from college to the NFL.

ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss thinks if Mayfield slips to the middle of the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, the Cardinals should take a shot on the former walk-on quarterback.

“There’s a chance Mayfield could be around when the Cardinals go on the clock with the No. 15 pick in the first round of April’s NFL draft,” Weinfuss writes. “And if he is, the Cardinals may need to buck their “best player available” philosophy and take a chance on him.”

If Mayfield is taken off the board, however, Arizona might turn to another Heisman Trophy winner from Oklahoma.

2008 Heisman winner Sam Bradford would be one of the best free-agent options for the Cardinals. Despite health concerns surrounding the current Minnesota Vikings quarterback, Weinfuss thinks Bradford “still has one of the best arms in the NFL.”

The Cardinals have plenty of names to choose from with a potentially quarterback-heavy draft on deck for the league. Go to ESPN.com for more on what the Cardinals might do to replace the retired Palmer.

Andy Dalton or Nick Foles? Depends on the month

On the heels of our wildly successful discussion about whether or not Andy Dalton is better than Blake Bortles (anymore), there is only one logical next step.  Who is better: Andy Dalton or Tom Brady?  Just kidding… But seriously, have you seen the guy who is quarterbacking the team that will oppose Brady’s Patriots in the Super...

Fenwick takes competitive balance hit in football; moves up to D-III

Fenwick is the only area football program to take a hit in the revised competitive balance figures for the upcoming football season. A Greater Catholic League North Division member, the Falcons were bumped up from Division IV to D-III. That wasn’t unexpected. Fenwick missed the cutoff for being lumped in D-III last season by one boy. “Obviously...

TCU coach Jamie Dixon no stranger to West Virginia after years at Pittsburgh

FORT WORTH — TCU men’s basketball has never defeated West Virginia. The Horned Frogs are 0-11 all-time vs. Bob Huggins and the No. 7 Mountaineers. And while he hasn’t been able to solve West Virginia in two tries since arriving in Fort Worth, Jamie Dixon is certainly someone the Horned Frogs want guiding them...
