In what is shaping up to be a day full of awards for the Oklahoma quarterback, Baker Mayfield was named the 2017 Walter Camp Football Player of the Year.

The award is given to the “outstanding player of the year who has exemplified the qualities of self-discipline, unselfish team play, desire to excel, mature judgement and respect for leadership.”

Mayfield is the fourth Oklahoma player to claim the title. Steve Owens in 1969, Billy Sims in 1978 and Josh Heupel in 200 are previous award recipients.

In addition to Mayfield, Penn State’s Saquon Barkley, Louisville’s Lamar Jackson (the 2016 winner), San Diego State’s Rashaad Penny and Stanford’s Bryce Love were also nominated.

Stick around — Mayfield is sure to rack up plenty of awards later tonight at the College Football Awards show.
