Former Notre Dame QB headed to Cincinnati

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Former Notre Dame quarterback Gunner Kiel has found another landing spot — Cincinnati.

The Indiana high school star told his hometown newspaper, The Columbus Republic, he told Bearcats coaches Wednesday he would be enrolling at the school.

Kiel originally committed to Indiana, then backed out and opted for LSU. When he backed out of that commitment, Kiel wound up enrolling at Notre Dame where he thought he would compete for the starting job. But Everett Golson won the job and led the Fighting Irish to the national championship game.

So Kiel opted to transfer. He chose Cincinnati over Kansas State, Mississippi and Ball State though he will sit out this season because of the NCAA’s transfer rules.
