“The last couple of scrimmages Kyle really came through with his passing and his decision-making,” Dayton coach Rick Chamberlin said. “Kyle is athletic, he can move around and extend plays. His passing is much better than last year, but it’s his mobility that is the key for him.”
The Flyers didn't have a question at quarterback until fifth-year senior Alex Jeske broke a bone in his left foot a week before reporting for summer camp.
Jeske’s recovery was though to be 4-6 weeks after his surgery last month.
The timetable for his return is still up in the air, but the best guess would be the three-year starter could be back in the lineup in time for game No. 4, which would be the Pioneer Football League opener at Morehead State.
Kaparos played in two games last season, both times in mop-up duty in lopsided games.
He could be handing off to a familiar face. Younger brother Cole Kaparos is in the rotation at running back for the Flyers.
