Former Flyer makes Canadian hoops team


Kendel Ross, the standout University of Dayton women’s basketball player from 2007-10 and the Flyers strength and conditioning coach the past two seasons, has made Canada’s 12-member Senior Women’s National Team that will play in the FIBA Americas Championship for Women that begins Sunday in Xalapa, Mexico.

Ross, a 6-foot guard from Sarnia, Ontario, was a senior captain of the UD team, scored 1,063 career points and won All-Atlantic 10 Conference third team honors her final season.

Her Canadian team just won the Super Four International Tournament in Sao Paolo, Brazil – defeating Argentina, Puerto Rico and Brazil. At the FIBA Championship, Canada opens preliminary round play with Jamaica on Sunday and then faces Chile, Venezuela and Cuba over the three days.
