5 Cincinnati Reds prospects make Baseball America’s top 100

While the present continues to be murky for the Cincinnati Reds, the future seems to be bright if it ever gets here.

Baseball America’s newest list of top 100 prospects includes five players from the organization.

Four of them are former Dayton Dragons while a fifth is expected to be in the Gem City this spring.

Topping the list is Nick Senzel, the team’s 2016 first-round pick who finished last season at Double-A Pensacola.

A third baseman who is expected to get a look at multiple positions in spring training, Senzel is the No. 7 prospect in baseball according to BA.

Next up is Hunter Greene, the team’s top pick last year. A right-handed pitcher who is still just 18 years old, Greene is ranked No. 29 after his performance in rookie ball last year.

He is likely to be a Dragon this summer.

Outfielders Taylor Trammell (48th) and Jesse Winker (97th) also made the top 100 along with right-handed pitcher Tyler Mahle (90th).

Mahle finished last season with the Reds and looked good before reaching his innings limit for the year.

Winker also made his Reds debut last season and is expected to have a regular role in the majors this season even if that means playing four outfielders regularly.

Trammell is an exciting young prospect who was a standout for the Dragons last season, his second pro campaign after being drafted out of high school in Georgia.
