Cedarville grad part of Houston Astros World Series run

As the Houston Astros marched through the American League to earn their second World Series berth, a Miami Valley man helped make sure the stands at Minute Maid Park were full.

Cedarville native Jason Howard is the senior vice president of ticket sales and strategy for the AL pennant winners.

In that position, he oversees all ticket sales, service and operations as well as the team’s business strategy and analytics departments.

The Astros hired Howard in 2012 when the team was in the midst of a long rebuild.

They drew 1.6 million fans that season while going 55-107, but the club has gone over the 2 million-fan mark each of the past three seasons.

Howard is a 2000 graduate of Cedarville High School, where he was the Indians’ starting quarterback in 1998 and ’99. He also played point guard for the basketball team.

He went on to major in sports management at Cedarville University and began his career in Indianapolis with Pacers Sports and Entertainment as a sales rep.
