A third Cincinnati Bengals player has been named to the Pro Bowl after long snapper tweeted that the Pittsburgh Steelers coaching staff extended the invitation to him Tuesday afternoon.
Harris joins defensive tackle Geno Atkins and wide receiver A.J. Green as Pro Bowl selections of the Bengals, although Green will not be playing due to an undisclosed injury.
Long snappers are not voted to the Pro Bowl, but rather invited by the coaching staffs.
The NFL announced Monday morning that the Steelers and New Orleans Saints staffs would handle the duties for this year’s game, which will be played Sunday, Jan. 28, in Orlando, Fla.
The Steelers invited Harris to appear in the first Pro Bowl of his career, and the nine-year veteran thanked them in his tweet, writing, “So just found out that I will be headed to Orlando next week. Thanks to the @ coaching staff for bringing me along to the 2018 @#. #”
Long snappers don’t compile many stats, but Harris recorded four tackles on special teams in 2017 while extending an impressive streak that has seen him deliver 1,284 consecutive snaps without an unplayable one.
