Archie Miller reacts to college basketball scandal

Former Dayton coach says he has talked to his brother once since news broke

Former Dayton Flyers coach Archie Miller, now the head coach at Indiana, talked to reporters in Indiana on Thursday and was asked about the college basketball recruiting scandal that has made major news this week.

Miller’s brother Sean, the head coach at Arizona, has been touched by the scandal as one of his assistants was arrested by the FBI. Archie coached the Flyers the last six seasons.

“I’m as surprised as anyone, just like probably 99 percent of the basketball world about what’s going on,” Archie Miller said. “I’ve had very little information other than what you guys have. I’ll probably stay away from commenting on the actual facts. When it comes to Arizona obviously I’m very prideful there with my family. I’ve been able to talk to Sean only one time, very briefly, to add my support.

“We’re business as usual here in regards to us and our staff, approaching things very similar to the way we do things day to day. everyone has probably taken a step back and is obviously a little reserved or guarded, but as you look at your own players, you have to remind them with great urgency to do things the right way.”
