The Springfield News-Sun has deep roots in our city with a history that dates back to 1817. Gov. James M. Cox, himself, made the Springfield newspapers the second in the Cox Newspapers group, following his purchase in Dayton. The paper had gone through many name changes prior to his acquisition and others, still, until becoming the News-Sun.
