Rice ties Southeastern mark with seven 3's in win

SOUTH CHARLESTON — Junior Amber Rice scored a career-high 26 points, tying a school record with seven made 3-pointers, as the Trojans rolled to a 69-31 Ohio Heritage Conference victory over Cedarville in girls basketball action on Saturday, Jan. 10.
Rice tied the mark held by Jenny Smith and Kati Kitchen.
Amanda Harvey added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Trojans (10-3, 6-2 OHC), while Amber Hayslip had 11 points and Hannah Bowman added 10 assists.
Southeastern has won three straight since its loss to Triad on Jan. 3.
Emily Sheridan had 12 points and Mackenzie McMahan added 10 for Cedarville (3-9, 0-8 OHC).
Prep boys
Kenton Ridge 46, Tecumseh 41: The Cougars made 9-of-13 free throws in the fourth quarter for a Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Trail Division victory.
Kyle Morris had 11 points for the Cougars (7-1, 5-1 CBC), who bounced back after suffering their first loss of the season against Graham on Jan. 8.
Kenton Ridge nailed six 3-pointers in the win.
Zach Rapp had 13 points for Tecumseh (5-4, 4-3 CBC), which cut the lead to three several times in the game, but couldn't pull any closer.
Kenton Ridge now sits alone in first place in the CBC Kenton Trail Division.
Yellow Springs 86, Carlisle 61: Ryan Newsome had 12 of his game-high 28 points in the third quarter as the Bulldogs notched their highest point total of the season.
Raphael Allen added 12 points and 10 boards for the Bulldogs (4-5), while Kevin Sikes-Gilbert added 11 points.
James Bishop had 21 points for Carlisle (6-3).
Graham 88, Northwestern 57: The unbeaten Falcons rolled to a 48-26 halftime lead and never looked back for a CBC Mad River Division win.
Josh Schuler had 28 points for the Falcons (8-0, 6-0 CBC), while Austin Jones had 22 points, nailing four 3-pointers, and Ethan Ward added 16.
Mitchell Wolfarth had 11 points for Northwestern (2-7, 2-4 CBC).
Shawnee 56, Bellefontaine 52: Justin Williams had a game-high 27 points to help the Braves grab a key CBC Kenton Trail Division road victory.
P.J. Howell, who added 14 points in the game, hit 3-of-4 free throws and Connor McDonough made 1-of-2 from the line in the final minute to help Shawnee (5-2, 4-2 CBC) seal the win.
Justin Baughman had 15 points for Bellefontaine (6-3, 4-2 CBC), which is now tied for second in the CBC Kenton Trail with Shawnee.
Sidney 75, Springfield 70: Akeem Freeman had 23 points, but the Wildcats couldn't overcome an eight-point third-quarter deficit in Greater Western Ohio Conference crossover division play.
Trey DePriest had 14 points for Springfield (3-7), while Lucas Smith added 12.
Zach Yinger had 21 points for Sidney (7-4), which nailed six 3-pointers.
