SPRINGFIELD — From 48 years and thousands of athletes, we've chosen 10.
The Top 10 female athletes each from North and South high schools are volleyball spikers, basketball sharpshooters, track sprinters, softball sluggers and every sport in between.
Extras
North and South will each close its doors on May 20; Springfield High School opens in September. To honor the history of North and South, we've selected the Top 10 male and female athletes for each school.
We didn't choose our Top 10 athletes out of a hat — we had a committee of respected school representatives select these athletes.
Today, May 14, we're publishing female athletes Nos. 2 through 10. On Friday, we'll do the same for the male athletes. We'll reveal the No. 1 athletes and publish the complete lists in the weekend editions of the News-Sun.
