Three more apply for Springfield boys hoops coaching job

SPRINGFIELD — Three more applicants submitted their names to lead the Springfield High School boys basketball program.
Those applicants are:
Extras
• Garrick Howard, a Springfield volunteer coach at many levels;
• Phil Schmook, the head coach at Amherst Steele;
• Steven Culp, the head coach at Akron North.
That brings the total number of applicants for the position to 29. Interviews will begin this week.
North and South will close in May and will merge to form Springfield High School in September. District officials want to have all of Springfield's winter head coaches hired by April 10.
