Cougars' Funk is fastest qualifier in two events at district meet

TROTWOOD — Kenton Ridge's Lauren Funk had the top district qualifying times in two events at the Division II girls swimming sectional tournament at Trotwood-Madison High School on Saturday.

Funk won the 50-yard freestyle (24.38) and the 100 free (54.26). She also swam on the 200 medley relay qualifying team (2:07.75) with Kristin McInturff, Corrin Klang and Meghan Meyer.

Extras

Catholic Central's Anna Jean Petroff qualified for districts in five events, while Maureen Day, Paige Smith and Liz Samuelson advanced in four events. Individually, Petroff advanced in the 100 fly (1:07.29) and the 200 Individual Medley (2:24.10). Day qualified in the 50 free (27.63) and 100 back (1:06.08). Smith advanced in the 100 free (1:00.47) and the 100 breast (1:13.02). Samuelson qualified in the 100 back (1:07.55) and the 200 IM (2:26.38).

Petroff, Smith, Kourtney Koehler and Kara Greitzer qualified in the 200 free relay (1:51.85). Petroff, Day, Koehler and Liz Samuelson advanced in the 400 free relay (4:05.86). Day, Smith, Petroff and Samuelson qualified in the 200 medley relay (2:01.36).

Shawnee's Molly Mullen went on to districts in the 100 breast (1:15.87) and the 200 IM (2:31.36). She also was on the qualifying 400 free relay team (4:19.37) with Kacey Smith, Alicia MacLeod and Jenna Thompson.

Greenon's Ashlee Irvin qualified in the 100 free (59.620) and the 200 free (2:11.25). Urbana's Victoria Burcham qualified in the 100 back (1:09.33).
