Central finishes third in sectionals

TROTWOOD — Catholic Central won seven out of the 11 events to finish third at the Trotwood-Madison Division I Boys swimming sectionals at Trotwood-Madison High School on Friday.
Brent Hitchcock finished first and was the top qualifier for districts in the 200 yard freestyle (1:44.17) and the 500 free (4:33.42). Pat McHugh finished first and was the top qualifier in the 50 free (21.70) and in the 100 back (53.48). Anders Samuelson won the 100 free (48.78) and was second in the 50 free (22.15). Pat Greitzer was second in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.35) and was on the first-place 200 medley relay team (1:41.24) with McHugh, Hitchcock and Samuelson. Central's 400 free relay team of Hitchcock, McHugh, Samuelson and Stewart Collins was also first (3:21.78) as the Irish finished with 260 points.
Extras
Two other area swimmers qualified in the 100 breast as North's Drew Keriazes finished third (1:03.10) and Greenon's Danny Powderly was fifth (1:04.53). Districts start at 6 p.m. Friday at Miami University.
