About Illinois State
Tim Jankovich tied the school record with 25 victories in his first season, one of them a 54-46 victory over Wright State in a ESPNU BracketBusters game in which the Redbirds led by 18 with six minutes to play. WSU cut the lead to three with under a minute left, but stalled from there. This is the return match. Holloway had a career day with 16 points, five rebounds and four assists.
About Wright State
Raiders are trying to go where no WSU team has gone before, a third straight 20-win season. Raiders tuned up with a 76-56 exhibition victory over St. Edward's (Texas) with two new starters in the lineup, big men Cooperwood and Thomas.
Outlook
Not an easy game for either team, especially to open the season. Wright State has a little more returning scoring among the starters — 1,049 points to 1,027 points — but both teams are expecting big seasons. Illinois State beat Illinois-Springfield 81-57 in its exhibition game.
Quote
"It's just a good team, an opportunity to play a good team. We don't have any easy games on our schedule. The teams we play are good, and think they're going to be good this year." — WSU coach Brad Brownell, whose 40th birthday is today
