FAIRBORN — The Wright State University women's basketball team will be at Hawaii for the Seasider Classic Dec. 5-6.
The Raiders will play Brigham Young and host BYU-Hawaii in the two-game event, which also includes San Diego, USC and Utah Valley State.
The Raiders have nine players returning from the 2007-08 squad that advanced to the Horizon League championship game, including sophomore guard Shey Peddy, the League's Newcomer of the Year and a first-team selection on the All-Defensive Team.
Times for the Wright State games at the Seasider Classic will be finalized later this summer.
BYU finished 13-16 overall and 7-9 in the Mountain West Conference last season. BYU-Hawaii, a NCAA Division II program that will be in just its third year of existence, went 5-22 overall and 5-13 in the Pacific West Conference.
WSU and BYU have met once before, with the Raiders winning 64-56 in the 2004 consolation game of the Hilton Woodland Hills Beach Classic in Malibu, Calif. WSU and BYU-Hawaii have never played.
This will be Wright State's third appearance in the Aloha State, having faced Hawaii and Mississippi in the 1996-97 Hawaii Inv. and Akron and Hawaii in the same tournament during the 2000-01 campaign.
