SPRINGFIELD — For Wittenberg University softball coach Becky Hall, 200 career coaching victories is a nice milestone.

"It's special," Hall said. "As a coach, you always remember your coaching milestones. But you're always looking forward to the next one."

Hall, a South High School and Urbana University grad, picked up her 200th career victory on Saturday, March 29, after Witt beat Case Western 6-2 in the first game of a doubleheader at Betty Dillahunt Field.

She was happy to reach the milestone, but more excited about doing it in the middle of a eight-game winning streak.

"It was nice to do it with this particular group," Hall said. "That was what probably made it the most special. These girls are winning and playing good ball."

The Tigers are 15-7 and 1-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference this season, and have won 10 of their last 12 games.

"The team has some high goals set for themselves," Hall said, "and that was just another piece of the puzzle. It's a tribute to the type of team that this group is."

Those high goals include winning the NCAC regular-season and tournament titles, as well as playing well in the Divison III NCAA regional tournament.

"We want to play into May as long as we can," Hall said.

They host Wooster at 1 p.m. today, April 5.

They'll also host Allegheny in a key NCAC doubleheader on April 26, which will also serve as Senior Recognition Day. The Tigers will have a Strike Out Cancer event that day in honor of late women's basketball coach Pam Evans Smith.

Hall is excited about her team's chances this season, and considers herself "lucky to be at a place like Wittenberg.

"It's a blessing," Hall said. "It's such a great place. The most important part of coaching is that my kids graduate and are successful when they leave here."
