Need Issue 5 to keep Bethel Twp. deputies

I am writing to encourage residents of Bethel Twp. to vote for Issue 5, a renewal police levy. Revenue from the levy is essential for keeping the two deputies who are dedicated solely to the township residents.

It is a renewal levy and will not cost the residents any additional money. Please vote for Issue 5 to keep your deputies.

Nancy Brown helped improve Bethel Twp.

Nancy Brown has created many positive changes since she took office as a Bethel Twp. trustee.

Eyesores have become green spaces, Medway has some of its original historic charm restored and existing parks are clean, updated and family-friendly. Brown always makes herself available to residents, welcomes calls and answers questions.

She is always ready to research and work to find answers that she cannot provide and makes each resident as much of a priority as the township itself.

I’d like to ask residents of Bethel Twp. to consider the accomplishments and successes of her last two terms and re-elect Nancy Brown for Bethel Twp. trustee.

McClure, Schumann part of a good team

I am proud to work with Bob McClure and Jim Schumann as a township trustee and I ask the people of Mad River Twp. to vote for them on Nov. 3.

Through careful budgeting, we have successfully worked together as a team to provide quality emergency services, police protection, well-maintained cemeteries and road maintenance without tax increases.

I am also proud that we had the foresight to obtain equipment and storage facilities that save us money now and will meet our future needs.

Bob McClure and Jim Schumann are both from families deeply rooted in the soil of Mad River Twp. and they have proven their commitment to protecting our quality of life.

Scoby is honest,  caring and kind

We wish to heartily recommend Jim Scoby as Springfield Twp. trustee. We believe he is an honest, kind, caring man.

We have known him for several years — he lives across the road. Our son and his family farm Jim’s land. Jim cares about farmers in the community and is knowledgeable about the problems and benefits of farmers.

His mother has lived down the road for many years in a lovely, well-tended home.

He understands the needs of the elderly, knows how to handle finances and. He is a family man. To us he is a man of faith, and he works hard to serve his neighbors and his community.

Scoby knows history, culture of township

I support Jim Scoby’s run for reelection to the Springfield Twp. trustee post.

Jim has a proven track record of putting the township’s well-being first in his decision-making. His ability to work with the area’s political factions of the area is well documented and has fostered positive results. Still, he puts township residents first in all he does and takes into consideration all sides of a question.

It is important for people who run for office to be aware of the history and the culture of the area they represent. Jim is in touch with our needs and wants as citizens. He is a good listener and weighs the feelings of those he serves with care.

Jim will continue to be a positive influence for the good of our community and I urge the citizens to support his bid to continue to serve us.

We need to pass the mental health levy

As a client of Mental Health Services, I would like to see Clark County residents support Issue 4.

I depend on Mental Health Services for medication, group activities, and the time I spend with case managers and doctors.

All of those things help me. They give me people to talk with and a chance to deal with my illness.

Mental Health Services has also given me a chance to work — and work is something I really need.

School income tax asking too much

This letter is in response to the Northwestern Local School District’s levy request The district is now asking for a 1 percent income tax in addition to a significant increase in property taxes. For those who own their home, this amounts to double dipping.

Don’t be fooled – this new income tax will be deducted on top of any and all taxes you may currently pay now. Please read the part of the issue for income tax that states “For a continuing period of time,” which in simpler terms means forever.

Yes the new income tax will not tax retirement incomes, but please remember your neighbors when voting. This levy will push more homeowners into bankruptcy or foreclosure. For many families with two wage-earners — like my own — this levy will cost more than $100 per month.

Voters must separate needs from wants

The Northeastern School board wants to build six new school buildings costing $65,849,040 plus $14,000,000 in pork totaling $79,844,040.

On Nov. 3 the school district will put .25 percent earned income tax and a 7.572 mill levy on the ballot.
