On July 7 and 8, America in Bloom contest judges will return, and Springfield’s success depends on you! Last year, America in Bloom judges awarded Springfield three out of five “blooms,” based on the eight criteria demonstrating community pride.
It’s easy to be involved, as a resident or a business: Plant some color, pick up trash along curbs and gutters, or give your fence a fresh coat of paint.
A couple hours of your time and your neighbors’ will improve your property values and increase Springfield’s chances in the competition.
With the America in Bloom designation, cities have seen marked increases in community pride, economic development and property values.
Show that you or your business support the effort by making a donation and placing a “Springfield in Full Bloom” sign in your yard. Pick up yours at the offices of the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce, OSU Extension Horticulture, Bonnie’s Nursery or Harmony Farm Market.(Suggested donation is $10.)
