Martin supports firefighters, police

I am voting for City Commissioner Dan Martin. I’ve known Dan for many years — since he grew up on Highland Avenue — and he does a good job representing us.

Those of us on the east side of Springfield need someone who is concerned about the issues in this part of Springfield, including the traffic and crime along East Main Street.

Dan supports keeping an updated equipment in our police and fire departments and making sure the citizens are served with emergency squads.

I am satisfied with the direction the city is going and think he deserves to continue on the job.

Martin is the most sincere candidate

I think the city commission needs representatives who will care about the citizens first. I believe Dan Martin is the most sincere candidate when it comes to representing the people of Springfield.

During meetings shown on TV, he readily asks questions and tries to get information from city staff and people addressing the commission. You can tell he listens and cares about what people have to say. He also wants to learn the facts and make objective decisions.

Martin also uses his best judgment and does not seem to be influenced by partisan groups or special interests. He explains his position and why he votes a certain way when the commission has to make a tough judgment call.

I will be voting for Martin because I feel I can trust him to do the right thing.

Experience gives Rob Baker an edge

I would like to support Rob Baker for city commission. I have known Rob for more than 15 years. I find him to be a man of integrity and honesty.

I served two terms on the Springfield City Board of Education, and during that time, I would talk with Rob about issues facing our schools. I found him to be helpful with his education background and realize it would be great to have a friend of education sitting as a city commissioner.

Through Rob’s involvement in the community, the Rocking Horse Center, and as a former city manager in Missouri, he brings the ability to work with people and accomplish goals of job creation and retention, keeping good public safety and budget accountability.

Baker is smart and experienced

Rob Baker brings a lot to the table in his bid for a seat on the Springfield City Commission.

He is experienced in governing, he is knowledgeable and smart, and he is dedicated to everything he touches.

I hope Springfield voters don’t miss this opportunity.
