Senior citizens beware: The House health care bill will cut $500 billion from Medicare, $170 billion from Medicare Advantage insurance and a 20 percent cut in doctor’s pay. Is this quality health care? Speak up now.
Reality check: No one dies from lack of health insurance. People die from sicknesses and accidents. Health insurance helps pay for treatment. Health care is not free.
I would like to second the emotion that the writer in the Nov. 12 paper expressed about Snowhill Elementary School. You are absolutely correct in your prediction that there will one day be an accident. I have almost been in an accident three times because parents arrive at 8:29 a.m. and hurry in the parking lot. People, if you see someone pulling away from the curb, be courteous and allow them to do so. If you are arriving late, you should not make it someone’s else’s worry or tragedy. Get up earlier, as we owe it to our children to arrive at school on time, and without the stress added from hurrying.
Since when did it become our responsibly to give whatever the school district asks for?
Thanks, Northwestern, my property taxes just went up to $660 a month for the next 28 years. Thanks for stealing my retirement from me.
Get your kids the H1N1 shot. My daughter had the flu. It is no joke.
Re the monument: The remarks made by Dave Hartley are way off-base. The item is insured. Replacing it is the only thing to do. It should not be a problem, it has been there since 1957.
To the driver who hit the Ten Commandment monument: Apparently, you have already disobeyed some of the commandments.
Why not put the Ten Commandments back? They are the cornerstone of our judicial system.
Shawnee: We have the best superintendent in the area. The people on the board are very determined not to have our children suffer.
Re the Northeastern levy: Don’t these children deserve to learn in a modern environment? We are training them for jobs that don’t exist yet.
Re Northeastern: I am 57 years old, never had children and lived in the area. I paid all these years for your children to go to school. If we want to be fair, only people with kids should pay.
If I had a condo in Florida and a Cadillac to get there, I certainly wouldn’t waste my time to come here and vote “no” on the Northeastern school levy.
To Northeastern retirees: Be sure to apply for a mail-in absentee ballot for the February school tax levy vote before you leave for the winter. The school board has purposely scheduled this vote in an attempt to avoid your votes. Show them what’s right and continue to vote “no.”
Thank you, Greenon High School, for your Veterans Day program. It will be a ceremony I always will remember. A special thanks to my daughter and grandson for inviting me.
Chinese industrial production grew at 16 percent thanks to our unpatriotic un-American shoppers.
People need to be nicer and keep an open mind about others. My father has Parkinson’s disease. He is not a drunk.

Hang on, it's gonna be a bumpy ride. Who will pay for the pretty new buildings when all the foreclosures hit?
