Speak Up for Nov. 9 - I think the compromise to name the gym at Fulton Elementary after Davey Moore is fair

I think the compromise to name the gym at Fulton Elementary after Davey Moore is fair. The school name should remain the same, after the educator Fulton. Otherwise, changing the name would sort of be a slap in the face for the Fulton family.

Fulton school is a place for education and was named for an educator. Davey Moore was a sports figure. Leave the name of the school, and be glad the board offered to name the gym after Moore. The gyms hold many types of sports functions and Moore probably trained and fought in gyms.

Re Derr Road 334 project: Why did they destroy the straight bridge and create a hazardous downhill curvy traffic hazard?

I am saddened to see that people are being fooled into changing the state constitution for Issues 2 and 3. If these things are bad for Ohio, there is no easy way to get rid of them.

The general public needs to know the building in German Twp. being built is an administrative office, not a new firehouse.

President Obama needs to stay home and do the job people put him in the office for. You have three years left, how about doing something?

Just because the News-Sun doesn’t endorse a candidate, doesn’t mean the candidate can’t win.

You are afraid to stay home from work because of the flu because you might get fired.

The coalition of independent citizens would like to thank those who donated items to send to the troops. We were able to send 80 boxes.

Re Greenon school board members: Please remember you are working for the students, not a personal vendetta.

President Obama is watching the basketball game while people are at the polls? He chooses not to listen to what the people are saying?

Maybe unwittingly, I have discovered why the economy can’t get going. I was in my favorite department store the other day and asked myself, “What do I need?” My answer was, “Nothing.” My next question to myself was, “What do I want?” The answer was, “Everything!” This economy has taught me to buy only what I need, and not what I want. I read somewhere you won’t be happy with more until you’re happy with what you’ve got. This has guided my buying habits. The advertisers aren’t telling us what we need.

I am proud of my Army veterans, my son, three years from retirement, and my granddaughter, just starting basic training. Happy Veterans Day!

Travis-- I agree with you, I like the way 334 and Derr road is now. I work in fairborn and it is easier for me to catch 334 to 68 off of derr road then going all the way down middle urbana during school hours or down villa to 72 and catching it that way. I like it!

It's a 'slap in the face' to make blacks believe they can only excel through sports, though.

Change the name of Fulton to "The School of Hard Knocks" cause that's how kids will get their education if they don't stay in school! If they can learn that advice more easiely with a name change...then change it! I still don't know who or what Fulton did.

Fulton name should not be changed. Otherwise, the message sent to little kids is: Drop out of school and make money by pounding someone's face in with your fists..

Plus you don't have to worry about going through Middle Urbana Rd during school hours either.
