First time in years Beggar’s Night has actually been on Halloween in more than 20 years and I couldn’t afford to pass out candy.
There should be an age restriction. I’ve noticed the last few years, more and more teenagers are taking treats that should be for the little ones. This year they didn’t even try to wear something that resembled a costume — just went through the neighborhood with their pillowcases.
This is the second year we have been stuck with a bunch of candy because no one showed up on Beggar’s Night.
Please keep your children in their own neighborhood for trick-or-treat.
Once legislation is passed in Congress for health care, it will never change for the better when flaws are identified. The only thing to happen is more money will be thrown at the problem and our children and grandchildren will have to pay that bill on top of all the other bills we’ve created for them to pay for. This is greed and irresponsibility.
Before we let the government ruin our health care, I suggest you look into the private sector for health care ideas.
How will our government handle our health care? Look how they are handling the H1N1 vaccines. Can you tell me why the Gitmo prisoners are getting the vaccine before my 5-year-old grandchild?
A few years ago when there was a flu vaccine shortage, there was an outcry across the country and President Bush was blamed because we couldn’t get the vaccine. Where are those same people today? Why aren’t they blaming President Obama for the shortage now?
As a 100-year-old man still living in my own home, I would like to thank the wonderful volunteers at Elderly United who deliver Meals on Wheels. It has been a pleasure to meet so many nice people.
For all those bashing the Republican party: correct in that President Bush made some poor choices. Incorrect that the economic mess we are in is the Republican’s fault. Do your homework. You will learn that this mess was in the making long ago. Bush and Sen. John McCain warned the Democrat-run Congress about it and no one did anything.
Check your gas bill if you use a company other than Columbia Gas for your natural gas. I switched many years ago and never paid much attention to the price. I was paying almost 40 percent more.
We have a so-called leader in the White House who is letting a winnable war get out of hand while he sits and waffles on a decision for more troops. He seems to have plenty of time for everything else except being the commander in chief. It isn’t good to wish time away, but hurry up Jan. 20, 2013, and maybe we can have a real president again.
October of this year is the worst yet for our men and women in Afghanistan and where is the article in the newspaper? Our guy, President Obama, is busy going golfing more often in his nine months in office than President Bush did in his eight years, but he can’t seem to make a decision on what to do in the war. This is an outrage!
Does the newspaper think its subscribers are incapable of making decisions on their own? The newspaper now informs the readers what candidates and what issues we should support. Please give us the news and stay out of politics.

To the person that said keep your kids in their own neighborhoods, don't tell me where to take my kids. If you are upset over kids from other neighborhoods taking the candy that you buy, maybe next year, I would suggest to not buy candy at all and stay inside during Begger's Night.
