Our thanks to crews working in Springfield Township this winter. We have had a number of difficult snows, and in particular our road drifts badly at times. Township crews have been right on top of the situation, and their work is excellent. Thank you for the long hours and hard work.

I want to take a moment to thank three wonderful Samaritans who pulled my vehicle out of the snow on Mahar Road on Feb. 26. I really appreciated the help that day. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, and God bless!

I noticed that county Auditor George Sodders has used the county web page to announce his re-election bid. To me it looks like misuse of county resources without the announcement of his opponent being posted on the same web page.

Once again we hear the great news that Saturday mail will be stopped. If the postmasters would get rid of all their supervisory cronies, we’d save even more and not have another postal increase.

Mercy Stop Smoking program: What a failure! 40,000 smokers in Springfield and of the four they helped, two admit cheating and one admits they have only reduced the amount they smoke each day. Why can’t school districts like Northwestern and Northeastern have building funds the way churches do? People can privately donate and when they have collected enough money, they can build the school.

Area motorists familiar with the overly aggressive North Hampton police often detour around the town, resulting in heavier traffic on township and county roads and loss of revenue for local and nearby businesses.

A big thank you goes out to the crew for the great job in Harmony Township keeping our roads passable this winter.

I think there are too many cars in the city of Springfield. Why can’t the police do something about it?
