We went to the YMCA for a birthday party and it was great! No one wanted to leave. I want to encourage everyone to check it out.

Warning to all elderly. There is a scam going around where people are claiming to be from Medicare and asking for routing numbers from your account.

The idea that animals have rights is completely false. Only human beings have rights given to us by our Creator. Animals do not have any rights. That is not to be construed as condoning cruelty or abuse of animals. Our Creator expects us to be as compassionate to animals as He is toward us.

A close friend of mine from Europe, after visiting the U.S. several years ago, made the following observation: “Americans are spoiled, greedy and materialistic.” Maybe we should prepare ourselves; looks like the “good life” might be coming to an end.

Bar owners: Do we need Girls Gone Wild to put Springfield on the map? How trashy!

I was very disappointed that Girls Gone Wild got a full page in the life section. We need more stories like Wittenberg University students helping in the community.

Charging for parking at state-level basketball games: All schools charge at the state level.

You always have to pay parking for at sectionals.

A wonderful Louis Armstrong tribute concert will be aired on WOSU Mar. 24. Oh, I forgot. Time Warner won’t let us get it.

I am sick of the money President Obama is spending to help people. This is not a time for compassion. Let’s ignore needy people and their problems. Let’s keep Washington shut down so the Democrats can’t do anything.

I am stunned. I went to my family doctor. He is hocking ashtrays, glasses, T-shirts and baby bibs. He hates the president and I left there thinking I was in China. He tries to force you to buy the stuff before you leave his office. The ashtray (has an obscene pun) with a distorted picture of President Obama on it. I’ve seen it all now.

Leave no-smoking laws alone. It is nice to go out with no smoking.

Can someone tell me why a convicted felon should be allowed to collect Social Security?
