To the people who do not believe that Mercy’s stop-smoking program works: My husband and I stoped smoking six years ago with Mercy’s help and support group and to this day have not smoked or wanted to.

I am thankful to have successfully stopped smoking more than four months ago through the Mercy REACH program. Everyone in my group was smoke-free at the end of the program. It really does work!

Why do we reward those who are destroying this country? CEOs get bonuses, companies that send jobs overseas get tax breaks, and then we re-elect politicians who permit it.

We don’t want or need more employment in the health care system. That means health care costs will go up.

The reason health care insurance is so expensive is for years we have demanded more coverage and smaller deductions all the while chasing the “free ride.”

I’m curious if President Obama is wearing knee pads by now, since he’s on his knees so much begging fellow Democrats to support a health bill the American public doesn’t want. The guy has no shame. So much for focusing on jobs and the economy. I wish he’d put as much time on jobs and the economy as he did with health care.

Look and listen to both sides of the story, even if you don’t like it. Listen and find your own answer.

Fox News critics: Evidently you don’t watch Fox News or you wouldn’t be such pinheads.

I would rather be brainwashed by balanced reporting by Fox News so I can make my own decision than by only one-sided half stories by other cable news.

Do you know what the next president of the United States will say? I inherited this mess from Barack Obama.

The core problem with our economy is market and product over-saturation. No amount of government money can fix it.

The Speak Up column is for the crybabies and whiners out there.
