Re “Mother forced to stay in jail as daughter died,” June 17: The time to be a loving responsible parent to your child begins at conception, not at the deathbed of a premature infant struggling with the legacy of her mother’s drug abuse and her reckless lifestyle.

Judge Denise Moody has no compassion at all. Our taxes should have enabled a deputy to be with her all the way.

Kudos to Judge Denise Moody. Thanks for keeping me and my family safe.

The mother should have thought about her unborn infant when she was charged with breaking the law. I agree with Judge Denise Moody.

Judge Denise Moody made the correct decision by keeping the lady in jail.

Judge Denise Moody’s decision to deny a dying infant the chance to be held by its biological mother is wrong. Two wrongs do not make a right.

I am sorry for the mother’s loss, but I agree with the judge. You made some bad choices in life and it got you where you were. I hope you get your life turned around.

Dawn Brewer should have been allowed to hold the baby. It possibly could have been an asset to her recovery.

Judge Denise Moody just lost a vote.

Judge Denise Moody, I am sure you are a mother. The charges against the mother were not that serious.

Death row inmates get to see their family members before they die.

I applaud Judge Denise Moody’s decision to not allow the deathbed visit.

I think Judge Denise Moody did the correct thing.

I think Judge Denise Moody was wrong.

Thank you, Judge Denise Moody, for protecting us by not releasing the mom from jail.

I lost a daughter. There is no way a mother can deal with the loss of a child without being at his or her side.

Judge Denise Moody is one of the best judges we have in Springfield.

i know how dawn is feeling right now. i have lost two babies and it is hard to overcome. i didnt make it to the hospital in time for my son and it is always on my mind. she will have other reasons why she didnt make it to see her baby. the judge could have let her be there with her baby with the company of an officer and after her bein with her baby then take her back to jail. people need to think before making decisions the judge and dawn.

I hope THE DISHONORABLE JUDGE DENISE MOODY is placed in a jail cell when her dying days come & her family is not allowed to see her. If she was my mother, I'd tell her to "ROT IN HELL" for not letting that young lady spend time with her baby. Once again, these 'SO CALLED JUDGES' set out to make a point. Well the point she has made is that all she is, is a *****! This country would be better off with them. Now I see why people don't have any respect for the law.

Dawn...I am so sorry for your loss my dear sweet young lady. I have known you and your sister for years and it breaks my heart to see what has been going on in your lives. I moved away from Springfield but I am now back here. I will get a hold of one or both of you very soon. I love you BOTH UNCONDITIONALLY and I always will! Hang in there honey it will get better. Love you lots, Laura

This is in reference to Dawn Brewers neighbor, may God be with you because karma is a mofo. I dont care what Dawn did to get herself in jail, she is scared for life from this. As for Judge Moody, your day will come when you will be judged(good luck, your going to need it). Dawn needs re-hab not jail. We are Human not animals, and what we do in life-echoes in eternity. I pray for Dawn and her deceased.

I do not agree with Judge Moody's ruling, as it appeared to be spiteful and callous. The agony of having a dying baby is punishment enough, and the "wake-up" call she may have intended could very easily be turned into one more alcoholic resentment on Dawn's list. I'm praying for you, Dawn, and I hope to meet you in the rooms of AA after you are released. God Bless you.
