Speak Up for Aug. 31 - Why didn’t anyone complain about President Bush’s vacations?

Why does Shawnee have the right to stop traffic to let kids out of the parking lot? There is no reason for a teacher to go out and stop traffic. This is going to cause an accident.

The flowers on the North Fountain Avenue and North Limestone Street bridges and the hanging baskets in Veterans Park and around the square are all filled out and beautiful. What types of flowers are they and what do you feed them?

Put your corn in the dishwasher, 5 dozen at a time. It will cook it so you can put it in the freezer.

There is a solution for creating jobs. Bring jobs back to the United States that greedy companies sent overseas for cheap labor. These companies should be severely penalized and treated as traitors.

Politicians, do what is best for people in this country and not what is best for your party. You politicians have jobs and you are taken care of forever, unlike the average person. For some reason, you guys lack the motivation to repair this mess. Maybe you don’t want to.

I don’t care if you are a Republican, Democrat or Independent, we all want to see people back to work, quit losing their homes, etc. Both Republicans and Democrats have had their hands in this mess, so quit the blame game and fix it.

I enjoyed the story about building a canoe. Especially giving it to your grandson. I believe everyone should learn how to paddle their own canoe.

Golf courses need to establish and enforce some attire for female golfers and workers. Men need to wear shirts with collars. Women can get by with barely wearing anything.

Why didn’t anyone complain about President Bush’s vacations?

Yes, some presidents have taken more vacations. On Aug. 19, 2005, George Bush broke Ronald Reagan’s record of 335 days for America’s most vacationed president.

Dogs should not be allowed into grocery stores.

I sure hope the people writing into Speak Up who are in agreement with the mosque being built on Ground Zero are Muslims! There is nothing right about it and no justification to build it there!
