I wish the person putting flyers on our mailboxes in the Simon Kenton Farm area telling us to vote “no” on the school buildings issue would have had the guts to sign his or her name. It seems cowardly to just put these things out without owning up to it. By the way, I am voting “no,” but only because Northeastern will continue to take Springfield kids via open enrollment.
I’m not sure why the Enon Police Department has to give tickets for just a few miles over the speed limit. Getting a ticket for going 37 in a 35 is uncalled for, since many cars’ speedometers are different. Enon, let’s focus on real crime and stop lining your pockets with bogus traffic tickets!
Since the earliest ones wouldn’t have attended high school until the fall of 1960, how could overcrowding at Springfield High in the late 1950s be attributed to the baby boomers?
I was very upset when my husband and I went to the fair on Monday and were expected to pay $10 each to get in instead of the regular $5 because it was “Family Fun Day.” We didn’t stay and probably won’t go back.
Re Northeastern Local: Regarding the article in Sunday’s paper about our buildings being unsafe. Maybe you should have thought about that when you got your big raises for the past several years. This didn’t happen overnight. You should be ashamed to put our kids in jeopardy.
Ever notice how school board members, township trustees, city/county commissioners all lobby like crazy for your vote, get elected, then tell a voter attending a meeting with an issue the pat answer: “Sorry, there’s nothing we can do.” Maybe someday we’ll get local officials who want to do something for us humble voters.
Northwestern voters: Our children are the future scientists, teachers, computer analysts, etc. So remember them when you vote Aug. 3.
The tax-exempt status for churches like the Solid Rock is a slap in the face to hard-working Americans. It is quite a profitable business, especially since they pay no taxes. Wow, a true entrepreneur, in the eyes of Republicans.
The Solid Rock Church preachers are true conservative Republicans. The athletic facilities are “available to tithing members.” High salaries for themselves and their children employed by the church. All under tax-exempt status. The sad part is people in this country are dumb enough to be fleeced in the name of the Lord and church leaders live the life of luxury.
Sarah Palin doesn’t take any follow up questions because she doesn’t know the answers.
