Gambling no answer to funding problems
I am tired of the Issue 3 ads that act like gambling will provide the funds that the state needs. If this were true, the state’s lottery would be providing more money than it is.
The language in the bill is vague enough that I am sure the casino operators/sponsors of this bill have figured out the loopholes that they will use to get more money for them and less for the state.
I would rather have jobs that are for the greater good of the state, not ones that encourage people to feed a vice. In these difficult economic times, everyone needs to spend money wisely.
If you choose to drive to another state to gamble, that is your choice. My choice is “no” on Issue 3.

Issue 3 would help state’s economy
I am for Issue 3 because I believe casinos create more jobs than they cause to be lost.
A trip to Lawrencesburg and Rising Sun will show local businesses are thriving and the uptown area revitalized.
As for cash bets not included in “gross casino revenues,” legislators can close that loophole.
It’s true the amendment does not say the casinos must hire Ohio citizens only to work there, but they are providing $200 million in licensing fees for job training if the amendment is passed.
Read the amendment and make an informed decision.

Vote for Issue 2 helps maintain agriculture
I am voting “yes” on Issue 2, which will help establish the Ohio Livestock Care Standards Board made up of Ohioans, including family farmers, veterinarians, food-safety experts, a representative of a local humane society, members from statewide farm organizations, a dean of an agriculture college, and members representing Ohio consumers.
I want Ohio ag experts to study and consider Ohioans’ needs and expectations. I want Ohio’s top industry, agriculture, to be maintained by Ohioans.
