Two Clark County commissioners on Tuesday were critical of a proposal to sell alcohol at the county fair. Readers reacted on Facebook.

Melody Bowers Metz: “Very” bad idea!

Mark Edwin Sanders: It is a shame that the fair board would knowingly choose to exercise bad judgment all in the name of profit. The fair pulls in people from all aspects of society and, with alcohol added, the result can only be bad.

Michael Gambill: We have beer tents at every festival and fair we have up north around St. Marys, Ohio. Just have to have an ID to get a wrist band and use the wrist band to buy tickets.

Rachel DeFord McDonough: Is $10,000 really worth risking so many lives? There are too many people who go to the fair for there to be alcohol consumption. I do not want to see anyone get hurt, especially children. With all of the drivers and congestion in the area around fair time, it is already a dangerous situation without alcohol playing any kind of role. There are some responsible “drinkers” and those wouldn’t be the people who would cause the problems. By selling beer at the fair, they would lose money. There would be families who would not come to the fair and there would have to be more police officers on duty to stop the fights and check for impaired drivers.

Doris Fulton: I think you might add lots & lots of Clark County residents to the ANTI alcohol sales at the fair. I agree with Rachel.
