With proposed state budget cuts for education, shrinking property values locally, a changing economy and job market to prepare our students for, as well as the anticipated retirement of key administration personnel, our district faces imminent, serious challenges.

To overcome these challenges, it is critical that taxpayers within the district regain trust and confidence in the validity of the numbers reflecting the current and projected financial state of the district, as well as the perceived ability of the board, administration, and teachers to work together to proactively find and implement solutions to these issues.

As a district resident and parent of two children who currently attend Shawnee High School, I am vested in seeing the district succeed and have a genuine interest in working hard for its success.

Maintaining our district’s rating of excellence during these challenging times will require a concerted effort to seek out and utilize critical, untapped knowledge and expertise of community members, as well as the knowledge and expertise of our teaching staff.

The board of education needs members that possess and demonstrate the skill and ability for independent and critical thinking and research, and the facilitation of cooperative efforts between the administration, teachers, and the public.

Equally important, our board needs to be composed of individuals who will not just be led, but instead will provide leadership. I have demonstrated that I possess these qualities, and look forward to the opportunity to serve the students and taxpayers of our community.
