SPRINGFIELD — Tiffany Younts wouldn't let size be a roadblock to her dreams.
Her heart was too big for that.

Younts was named the top female athlete in North High School history in a reader poll conducted by the Springfield News-Sun through Internet voting and print balloting.
Nettie Carter, a 1984 graduate, finished second in the voting.
Younts, a 1993 grad who stood 5-foot-6, was the first four-year letterwinner in three sports. She played four years of soccer, basketball and softball.
"That's just an outstanding accomplishment when you consider how difficult it is for a freshman to come in and make a varsity team," said former North athletic director Jim Rolfes in the Feb. 15, 1993, edition of the News-Sun.
On the soccer field, Younts was named a Miami Valley Soccer Coaches Association all-star as a senior, and was North's Most Valuable Player, All-Western Ohio League and All-County her junior and senior seasons.
Younts averaged 15.9 points, 6.7 rebounds and five assists as a senior point guard for the Panthers. The team co-captain was named All-WOL and team MVP.
In softball, Younts hit over .400 all four years, and was named All-WOL three years.
Younts did it all with hard work and a big heart.
"People said they didn't know if I was cut out to be a basketball player," Younts said in the Feb. 15, 1993, edition of the News-Sun. "I was just too small. I thought, 'We'll see,' and went out every single night and practiced.
"I guess I just wanted to prove to everyone I could do it."
