Hollandia thankful for support
We in the Hollandia Botanical Gardens organization thank the nearly one thousand people who came to our Bulb Festival. We couldn't be more pleased with the positive comments you made on our floral displays, musical performances, and horticultural presentations.

Even more gratifying was the support you expressed for the project of transforming our 11-acre site into a splendid Garden for the community. We owe much to the sponsors and volunteers who made the Festival success possible.
To those who missed the Festival, you can see some remaining blooms and gain a sense of the Garden project by strolling down the Bike Path through the HBG site along Buck Creek, starting at Warder and Water streets. You can see a selection of festival photos plus the master plan for the garden at www.hollandiabotanical.com

Sad to see North fade into history
I am grateful for the opportunity that I had to return to North High School one last time. The open house was a time to reflect and snap photos of spaces that held many memories and personal history.
We try to hold onto the memories and capture photos in our futile effort to stand against the passing of time. I'm saddened to see our school pass into history. It's not that the building is special in itself but its halls and rooms have marked the time. They define where events in our personal history took place. I retraced spots where I made career choices, met people and forged relationships.
I am who I am today in part because of what happened there. The markers and boundaries will soon be gone but the memories will live on. As long as we live there will be proud North High School Panthers.
We will not be making any more, but I'll always be proud to be one of them. I stayed till the final curtain of the school's last Musical production, "Footloose" It was excellent. I know that wider publicity would have brought a much larger crowd to the open house.
Thanks to all for the opportunity to reflect one last time with the markers in place.
