It looks like some people need to crack open a history book instead of spending so much time on Facebook.
In light of the controversy surrounding the big game hunting photos posted on Facebook by a Texas teen recently, humorist Jay Branscomb thought he’d have a little fun with those on the social network.
Branscomb posted a fake photo of acclaimed film director Steven Spielberg posing with a smile in front of a dinosaur. Branscomb's caption reads: "Disgraceful photo of recreational hunter happily posing next to a Triceratops he just slaughtered. Please share so the world can name and shame this despicable man."
The Internet promptly exploded with outrage over the killing of a creature that has not existed for millions of years.
Gullible people who failed to recognize the “Jurassic Park” director or display any knowledge of dinosaurs spewed angry and expletive-filled rants on Facebook in response to the photo. When others tried to explain the joke behind the image, they were criticized by those busy defending the poor and helpless creature.
The image has gone viral, with over 34,000 shares and 10,000 likes.
Branscomb is enjoying his moment in the spotlight, claiming he has won the Internet.
