Teenage Greene County fatal victim identified


A 17-year-old female died Saturday evening in a severe crash in northern Greene County.

CareFlight was put on standby but later canceled when Trista Lindstrom, 17, the passenger a vehicle that was struck by a truck was rushed to Greene Memorial Hospital by ambulance. She later died at the hopital, officials confirmed.

Emergency crews responded to the intersection of Grinnell Road at Clifton Road at about 7 p.m. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, one person was reportedly trapped inside a car. A silver Toyota Camry had sustained severe damage on its passenger side after a water tanker truck collided with it.

Both female victims were extricated from the Camry, according to troopers. Lindstrom was transported to Greene Memorial Hospital, where she eventually died. The driver,Ashley Weyandt, 16, sustained minor injuries in the accident, said deputies.

The truck driver, a male, appeared to be uninjured at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
