Motorcyclist killed in five-vehicle West Milton crash

A man was killed after his motorcycle was involved in a five-vehicle crash on State Route 48 in Miami County Saturday.

David Baker, 58, of Englewood, died at the scene, according to officials with the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The accident happened around 4:05 p.m. when Baker was driving north on State Route 48. His motorcycle collided with another motorcycle heading in the same direction at the south end of West Milton. Investigators say both motorcycles then struck the rear of a car which was stopped at a traffic light.

The pair of bikes then bounced into the south bound lanes of State Route 48, where they hit two other passing motorcycles.

The three other bikers involved in the accident were treated for injuries, troopers say two were transported via CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital. Those riders were identified as Jeffrey Bayless, 36, of West Milton, and Brian Wright, 45, of Eaton.

A passenger was also riding with Baker at the time of the accident. Louise Baker, 66, of Englewood, was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
