I wonder what true number of unemployed are there in Ohio? See they base there facts on how many people file for unemployment, when in reality what is true number of people between the age of 18 to retirement that are unemployed. I bet you that number would be scary. Could anyone answer that?

Especially when its unfair that we here in Ohio have to pay property taxes to pay for our schools, which still to my knowledge is unconstitutional. We need find a different way to fund the Ohio schools.

Ohio problems didn't come from the UAW,it comes from lack of leadership from our political leaders. Ohio hasn't created jobs in 10 yrs since 1999, thats even before the recession. We rank worse than any other state in the United Staes as far as job growth. But yet they used the stimulus money to repair roads, instead of creating jobs. They should have been more prepared in what would happen to the industry.

It is amazing the levels of pious thinking and speaking...with little truth behind the message. I am against big government spending and urge everyone to not forget the president who authorized the big spending. This happened before Obama was elected President just seven months ago. Please, stay true to your moral high-road, if this is what you stand beside. By being critical of a man who has spent so little when it is compared to our actual debt. Help us God to open our hearts & free our minds.

Speaking of "food stamps", I know people who seem perfectly content to never get off them.. with no pride in being independent of the Govt. That is just one example. I also know a girl who basically bragged about "getting to file for bankruptcy". What?! That is not something to be proud of! It is great to have help when you need it, but Govt spending is way out of control, and many citizens are fine with it. Eventually, we will lose our freedom and independence... being prisonors of the Govt.

Tell me this fattrak where are the jobs? That this so called stimulus bill was supposed to create. It isn't helping anybody get any kind of meaningful employment within the state or in matter of fact within the country. Building new highways and or bridges is that not going to bring new jobs to the state. The only way the state of Ohio is every going to remain competitive or bring new jobs is to lower there taxes. Since we are the 7th most taxed state in the union that ain't going to happen.

The state budget deficit is a little more than 3 billion dollars. It would have been 8 billion dollars more without the federal government gift from the stimulus bill. The cutbacks and layoffs at the state level would have been massive and extreme here in Ohio. Then add 49 other states in the same boat. As bad as things are right now, things would have been far worse without the government spending in the stimulus bill.

I did not vote for but one politician that is currently in DC. I still think we need to bring back tar & feathers and run every on of them out of DC. the only problem we send good me to washington and six month later they join the click and become just like the ones they replace on the most part. And if they do pass national health care all the Senatore And Representives should have to join the citizans on the mess they create,

The problem with Ohio can be said in 3 letters-UAW. The Governor is controlled by the unions and wonders why the white collar NCR jobs are now in Georgia. What the Democrats have done to California, New York and Michigan, they have done to Ohio and now are doing to the USA. God Save the USA from the liberals.

A word of wisdom from my Dad. He alway told us (3 daughters)You Cannot Borrow Your Way Out Of Debt. He was always right in all of his advice, but he nailed it on this one. Isn't it amazing what our elders have lived through and the advice thay have. Why don't we listen?

If you have a 10% drop in income, you must adjust your spending by 10% or run a deficit. Right now, the federal government is spending $2 a day while collecting $1 - not that bad at the state level, but it's adding up quick. We'd all get through this better by accepting 10% pay cuts, but no - it's every man and woman for themselves and you can bet the people running the show don't have their job's in jeopardy. Already high taxes will grow and complete the destruction of what we have left.

You all make me laugh. How can you blame a president that has only been in office for less than 7 months for a mess that took years in the making -- during the bush years, I might add. You all are so quick to point the finger at him because you are such blinded republicans that are just waiting to place the blame on anyone but yourselves - when the real blame lies with your past president Bush and Gov. Taft. If all it took was a magic wand to fix, why didn't they do it before they left?

The voters have allowed BOTH political parties to spend this country into a deficit that we will never recover from. At the end of the Constitutional Convention, a young man asked Benjamin Franklin what kind of government America was given...Ben Franklin replied, "A republic...if you can keep it." Since the voters have ignored and allowed BOTH parties to be fiscally irresponsible, the republic has been mortally wounded. We had better start learning Chinese.

For anyone who thought Bush was bad, Obama is ten times worse! His only idea seems to be spend money we don't have, claiming if we don't, we will go further downhill... and we are now further sinking into a bottomless pit! He was all about hope and "change". How disappointing.. another politician full of false promises, or dare I say.. LIES.

Tomas: You are correct that Ohio's current issues are not President Obama's doing. Much of Ohio's issues go back to Taft and his lack of fiscal conservatism. However, the current plans of the Obama administration will in no way help this state nor any other. It will succeed in making Ohioans and everyone else in this country dependent upon the government. I haven't seen the government run anything well yet, and I don't see it getting any better under Obama.

Pat you must not have looked very hard at some of the schools in Ohio? We have built a new middle school, elementary school and additions to our high school. Our graduation rate is almost 100%, and the scholarships that are issued at graduation is always over a million. I thank God for new schools. Our children will excel, go to college and get great jobs. Not a job just standing on an assembly line for 8 hours. I think Ohio's decline is not new schools. I think it is lack of training & educ.

How can anyone with a conscience blame this mess on Obama? An 8 year combination of Taft, Bush (Mostly Cheney!) and endless stupidity got us where we are today!

Wake up! George Bush created this mess with 1.7 trillion into a war without justification (and other things as well) that started the debt rolling. It is a GOP mess Obama is trying to fix and has been there only a short time.

For more than a decade Ohio has wasted hundreds of millions of dollars replacing school buildings that just needed some repairs and updates. Some needed replacing but most did not. Such wasteful spending is one of the major causes of the Ohio deficit. Ohio Schools Facilities Commission funds need to be frozen until the budget is balanced.

Well we can see this is only the beginning of the OBAMA mess - when we many realize his so-called plans are failing miserably and we still have amassed a debt for our kids and grandkids to pay for!!!

Way to go OBAMA!!!
